Embedding cultural safety & Indigenous teachings at Provincial Health

In alignment with our vision to boldly create an equitable, anti-racist, and culturally safe health system where everyone thrives, we partnered with an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper to introduce six Coast Salish teachings into the fabric of our work. The project reinforced our commitment to cultural safety and inclusivity, establishing a framework that reflects who we are and how we care for the patients, families, and communities we serve.

And then the teachings carried us further…

This foundational work not only strengthened our organizational culture but also set the stage for a bold evolution of our visual identity. To ensure our brand fully reflected this renewed purpose and commitment, I led a full scale rebrand initiative to better align with the values, teachings, and vision at the heart of our work.

As the internal lead, I steered the initiative from concept development to CEO & board approval, working closely with an external design agency one23west, Coast Salish artist Ovi Mailhot, and a diverse working group of staff across the organization.

The final concept—featuring a new symbol and color palette inspired by BC's natural landscape—was approved in January 2025 and will launch in early 2026.
